Research Intern (CLOSED)

We’re on the lookout for an intrepid Data Research Intern to journey with us deep into the datamines, dig for informational gold and cart out spreadsheets laden with nuggets of knowledge.

Internships at IIB have potential: of our previous interns one is now our senior researcher (@miriamquick) and the other works at our commercial sister company IIB Studio (@ejhollowood).

Duration: Initial 2 week internship

Days: 2-3 days per week or equivalent hours

Location: Remote working possible or UK / London

Renumeration: USD $95 p/d for international workers or GBP £60 p/d for UK workers (plus travel and food expenses where applicable)

Are you a seeker of facts, keen to unearth the stories that numbers tell? Are you nimble with a spreadsheet? Accurate, methodical, geeky, fast? This is a chance to intern with the Information is Beautiful team, sourcing and sifting through the rows and columns that support our graphics. Most of the work is remote research and can be done from anywhere, though UK / London applicants may get to do occasional in-person meetings.

You’ll be learning from our senior data researcher Miriam Quick and on occasion from IIB head honcho David McCandless. With the possibility of contributing to our published work, this could be a great way to gain credits for your resumé.

Qualities we’re after:

    • Familiarity with Information is Beautiful’s work
    • Enthusiasm for dataviz and infographics
    • Passion for all kinds of subjects: news, numbers, thought, culture, science etc
    • Not scared of data, research, numbers or spreadsheets!
    • Attention to detail but able to work quickly and creatively
    • Excellent written and verbal communication
    • Responsive to feedback and direction
    • Access to a computer and internet connection
